Youth Advisor Position Available at Congregation Beth Shalom in Northbrook

 

Description: The CBS Youth Department is seeking to hire an advisor who is self-motivated, creative and passionate about children and Jewish Life. He/She will be an energetic and positive role model and will help to create meaningful, inspiring, fun programming a few times a month for three of our Youth Groups ranging in age from Kindergarten to 8th grade.  The advisor will work closely with and report to the Director of Youth Activities to create and execute programs.
 
 
 
The ideal candidate will:
 
- Have experience working with children at a synagogue, Jewish community center or Jewish camp.
 
- Exhibit effective communication skills.
 
- Posses a desire to mentor and interact with children
 
- Have a high degree of motivation.
 
- Posses Good organizational skills.
 
- Have a love of Judaism
 
- Be required to attend Regional Kadima Kinnus and Regional Kadima Days.
 
- Advisor will be required to get him or herself to and from events.

Job Description: Youth Advisor, Congregation Beth Shalom
 
  • Administration
    • Youth Advisor will Assist Youth Director with administrative tasks as required, which may include collection of dues, and collection of membership and release forms
    • Meet with Director of Youth Activities on a regular basis , assisting with planning and administrative tasks
  • Events
    • Work with Kadima board to develop a youth calendar
      • Programming should be balanced, including religious, education, social action, athletic, cultural and social components. Programs should support the goals of the USY/Kadima program as specified by the youth director
      • Events should not conflict with synagogue, regional or community calendars whenever possible
    • Help plan and execute Chaverim and Nitzanim Programs.
  • Attendance
    • Attend all events (Kadima meets twice a month, Chaverim once a month and Nitzanim once every other month). Ensure that event is properly planned and supervised
    • Attend all Kadima board meetings
  • Communication
    • Communicate efficiently with Director of Youth Activities in a timely manner
    • Communicate effectively with the board and chapter, including e-mail, phone and flyers when needed
  • Youth Commission
    • Attend Youth Commission meetings as required by Youth Director
  • Miscellaneous
    • Understand, observe and enforce all policies and religious standards of United Synagogue at each event, including: supervision, safety, driving, dress code, kashrut, Shabbat
    • Accompany youth to all regional events in which we participate when needed
